Etymology. The specific name refers to the Manaós,earlier inhabitants of the region of Manaus; noun in apposition.

Diagnosis. Males of M. manaos spec. nov. resemble those of M. conduri spec. nov. ( Figs 138–141 View FIGURES 138–144 ) by the palp with tibia bearing a small triangular retrodorsal projection ( Fig. 189 View FIGURES 184–190 ). They are distinguished from the latter species by the RTA triangular and embolus lacking subdistal projection ( Figs 189–190 View FIGURES 184–190 ) (RTA roughly S-shaped and embolus with short laminar subdistal projection in M. conduri spec. nov.). Females are unknown.

Description. Male (IBSP 6640, paratype): Total length 11.8. Prosoma 5.6 long, 5.4 wide. Opisthosoma 5.9 long, 3.2 wide. Eyes: diameters: 0.41, 0.30, 0.25, 0.32; interdistances: 0.30, 0.12, 0.50, 0.48, 0.35, 0.20. Legs: I: 32.7 (8.9, 3.0, 9.0, 9.5, 2.3); II: 35.1 (9.6, 3.2, 9.8, 10.0, 2.5); III: 23.4 (7.0, 2.4, 6.0, 6.2, 1.8); IV: 27.4 (8.0, 2.5, 7.0, 7.8, 2.1). Spination follows the generic pattern except tibia III: d1-0-1; patella IV: p1, r1; femur IV: r0-1-1. Palp: PTA anvil-shaped, as long as its widest part (prolateral view); cymbium with small retroproximal projection; subtegulum barely visible between 9–9:30 o’clock in ventral view; conductor widest at base, distally fanned; embolus subdistally curved, with large membranous region ( Figs 187–190 View FIGURES 184–190 , 193–195 View FIGURES 191–195 ).

Female: unknown.

Variation. Females (n = 8): total length 9.2–13.7; prosoma length 3.8–5.6; femur I length 7.6–9.4.

Distribution. Known from French Guiana and Brazil ( Fig. 317 View FIGURES 315–318 ).
