Afrotropical: 1) Mozambique, 2) Zambia ( Walker et al. 2000, Kolonin 2009).

Camicas et al. (1998) listed Rhipicephalus serranoi as a probable synonym of Rhipicephalus punctatus . Walker et al. (2000) morphologically redescribed the male and female of Rhipicephalus serranoi and clearly indicated that their description differs in several respects from the original description by Santos Dias (1950b).
