Afrotropical: 1) South Africa, 2) Zambia ( Colbo & MacLeod 1976, Tandon 1991, Kolonin 2009).

Horak et al. (2018) ignored the presence of Ixodes rhabdomysae in South Africa, but we argue for its occurrence there because the holotype and paratype are of South African origin .
