Nearctic: 1) Mexico (north); Neotropical: 1) Guatemala, 2) Mexico (south), 3) Panama ( Fairchild et al. 1966, Keirans 1985b, Guzmán-Cornejo & Robbins 2010, Guglielmone et al. 2021)

Clifford et al. (1973) regarded Ixodes rubidus as a Nearctic species, while Camicas et al. (1998) listed this tick as Neotropical, but it has been found in both zoogeographic regions.
