Afrotropical: 1) Madagascar (Hoogstraal et al. 1974, Uilenberg et al. 1979, Burridge 2011).

The female of Haemaphysalis elongata in Nuttall & Warburton (1915) represents, in fact, the first description of the female of Haemaphysalis tiptoni , and the male of Haemaphysalis elongata redescribed in the same publication does not belong to this species, as explained in Hoogstraal (1953a).
