Afrotropical: 1) Angola, 2) Democratic Republic of the Congo, 3) Namibia ( Sousa Dias 1950, Elbl & Anastos 1966 c, Gomes et al. 1994, Walker et al. 2000, Kolonin 2009, Horak et al. 2018).

Walker et al. (2000) stated that morphologically separating Rhipicephalus duttoni from Rhipicephalus nitens is sometimes very difficult.
