Afrotropical: 1) Cameroon, 2) Congo, 3) Ethiopia ( Morel 1980).

Hoogstraal & Wassef (1973) and Kolonin (2009) included South Africa within the range of Haemaphysalis tauffliebi . However, Walker (1991) stated that this tick is not found in South Africa, and specimens alleged to have been collected there are no longer available for study. Horak et al. (2018) recognized this by ignoring Haemaphysalis tauffliebi when analyzing the ticks of South Africa, and we have therefore excluded South Africa from the range of Haemaphysalis tauffliebi .
