Australasian: 1) Papua New Guinea; Oriental: 1) Philippines (Hoogstraal 1982, Hoogstraal & Wassef 1983 a, Kolonin 2009).

Owen (2011) did not recognize Haemaphysalis rusae as occurring in Papua New Guinea. He may have overlooked its presence there because the Hoogstraal & Wassef (1983a) paper is not included in his references.
