Afrotropical: 1) Lesotho, 2) Namibia, 3) South Africa ( Walker & Laurence 1973, Horak et al. 2018).

The type locality of Margaropus winthemi is “Valparaíso,” an incorrect reference to a major Chilean city. Bedford (1920) explained that a common name for this tick in South Africa was “ Argentine tick.” However, there are no confirmed records of Margaropus winthemi from South America (Neotropical Zoogeographic Region).
