C o m m e n t: SMETANA (2004) does not list this widespread species for Spain, but GAMARRA & OUTERELO (2005) report it (as Atheta , subgenus Philhygra [sic]) from one mainland province and the Baleares. The above specimen from Algarve represents the first record from Portugal.
