Description of Rhizobium aquaticum NS 12-3

Cells are Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, flagellated and rod shaped. Colonies grown on R2 A agar are white, circular, convex and smooth. Oxidase activity is negative. In the API 20NE test, cells are positive for urease, β -galactosidase, and assimilation of D- glucose, D- mannitol, N -acetyl-glucosamine, D- maltose and malate; but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, esculin hydrolysis, arginine dihydrolase, gelatinase, and assimilation of L- arabinose, D- mannose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, trisodium citrate and phenylacetic acid. Strain NS 12-3 (= NIBRBAC000508931) was isolated from a soil sample collected from Goyang, Republic of Korea (37°40 ʹ 27.9 ʺ N 126°48 ʹ 20.5 ʺ E) GoogleMaps .
