Leptogium isidiosellum (Riddle) Sierk (1964: 282) . ( Figure 2F )

≡ Leptogium marginellum var. isidiosellum Riddle (1918: 115) .

Syntypes:—WEST INDIES. St. Jon, 1913, Britton & Shafer 276 (FH, MICH!).

Descriptions: Kitaura (2012) and Sierk (1964).

Notes: Leptogium isidiosellum is characterized by the irregularly and longitudinally ridged upper surface, with cylindrical isidia on the lamina and margin of the lobes. The apothecia, when present, are also ornamented by isidia and constituted by paraplectenchymatous thalline exciple with 4–6 cell layers.

The FH specimen was not studied by us and a lectotype is not selected here. The type material mentioned by Riddle (1918) was considered as a gathering according to McNeill (2014).

Leptogium isidiosellum has isidia on the thallus and apothecia, whereas in L. hondae the isidia are restricted to the amphithecia.

The upper surface of L. isidiosellum differs from L. austroamericanum . Leptogium isidiosellum has ridged upper surface whereas L. austroamericanum has wrinkled upper surface. Leptogium isidiosellum is also a common species in Mato Grosso do Sul.

Distribution in Brazil: First record to the state, but previously it was mentioned to Alagoas ( Pereira et al. 2006), Bahia ( Marcelli 1992), Mato Grosso ( Brako et al. 1985), Pará ( Brako et al. 1985), Rio Grande do Sul ( Käffer et al 2007) and Santa Catarina ( Gumboski & Eliasaro 2011).
