Collema cyanescens Rabenh. (1845: 50) View in CoL .

Lectotype (designated by Jørgensen & James 1983):— SWITZERLAND. Ticino, Schaerer , Lich. Helv. 409 ( BM!).

Description: Kitaura (2012).

Notes: Leptogium cyanescens is recognized by the smooth, bluish thallus, with cylindrical isidia on the lamina and flattened isidia usually on the margins of the thallus.

Leptogium austroamericanum is similar, but differs by the ridged upper surface.

Leptogium cochleatum has a thalline exciple with a thick cortex as well as L. cyanescens , but it is non-isidiate and with the upper surface distinctly wrinkled.

Distribution in Brazil: First record to Mato Grosso do Sul, but previously reported to Alagoas ( Nusbaumer et al. 2015), Minas Gerais ( Aptroot 2002), Paraná ( Osorio 1977), Pernambuco ( Nusbaumer et al. 2015), Rio de Janeiro ( Vainio 1890), Rio Grande do Sul ( Spielmann 2006), Santa Catarina (Kitaura et al. 2018), São Paulo ( Kitaura et al. 2017) and Sergipe ( Cáceres et al. 2014).
