Leptogium brebissonii Mont. (1840: 130) View in CoL .

Lectotype (designated by Galloway & Jørgensen 1995):—CANARY ISLANDS. Cumbre de Erjos , P.B. Webb ( FI-WEBB).

Descriptions: Galloway & Jørgensen (1995) and Kitaura (2012).

Notes: Leptogium brebissonii is characterized by the ridged thallus, with granulose isidia that are darker than the thallus. The species has transversely septate ascospores.

Unfortunately, the type specimen of Leptogium brebissonii was not sent to us, but the type of L. bellopratense Hy (1893: 9) , a very poorly saxicolous specimen, was analyzed and is a later synonym of L. brebissonii according to Jørgensen (1994). However, morphologically similar specimens to L. brebissonii were not found in the examined material from Mato Grosso do Sul.

Distribution in Brazil: Corumbá, in Mato Grosso do Sul ( Malme 1924), but also Mato Grosso ( Malme 1924) and Rio Grande do Sul ( Spielmann 2006).
