Distribution: Japan. New to Taiwan. [2a]

New records: Ilan, Fushan , light trap, 30.v.1995 (A. H. Warneke, S. H. Yen) (3); 28.vi.1995 (W. T. Jou) (1); Nantou, Tsuifeng 2300m, 25–27.vi.1981 (K. S. Lin, W. S. Tang) (1) .

Hosts: Actinidia polygama (Actinidiaceae) , Akebia trifoliata , Stauntonia hexaphylla (Lardizabalaceae) in Japan. Unknown in Taiwan.

Taxonomy: Apparently basing his conclusion on a small photograph of the female, Wood (1992) and Wood & Bright (1992) considered the species as a probable synonym of Cosmoderes monilicollis (Eichhoff) , but we consider it a distinct species.
