Distribution: Almost tropicopolitan, except for South America ( Wood 2007). New to Taiwan. [6]

New records: More than 50 specimens from the following counties: Chiayi, Hsinchu, Kaohsiung, Kinmen, Nantou, Taipei, Taichung, Taitung .

Hosts: Attacks the twigs and small branches of a wide variety of angiosperm trees and shrubs ( Browne 1961; Wood & Bright 1992).

Biology: The biology is briefly described by Browne (1961) and Beaver (1976). The species is known to attack stressed young trees, and may kill saplings and seedling transplants ( Browne 1961, 1968; Beaver 1976).
