Distribution: Throughout the tropical and subtropical regions, although probably of American origin ( Wood 1977). New to Taiwan. [6]

New records: More than 150 specimens from the following counties: Changhua, Chiayi, Kinmen, Nantou , Pintung, Taichung, Taipei, Taoyuan.

Hosts: Recorded from twigs, branches, seeds and fruits of hundreds of species. It is one of the most commonly collected scolytine species in the tropics and subtropics ( Wood 2007).
