Distribution: Almost tropicopolitan, although probably of American origin ( Wood 1977). New to Taiwan. [6] New records: Miaoli, Wanwa wetland P. F., 8.ii.2007 (1), 22.iv.2007 (1) (L. Y. Liu); Nantou, Huison, 18.vi.2005 (2); Sun Moon Lake, 11.vi.2005 (1) (L. Y. Liu); Neimoupu, funnel trap, 15.vi.2004 (C. S. Lin) (3); Taichung, National Chunghsing University, 19.iv.2006 (L. Y. Liu) (2)

Hosts: Polyphagous, attacking a wide variety of angiosperm trees, shrubs and lianes ( Wood & Bright 1992).

Biology: The species breeds in twigs and small branches, both in the pith and under the bark. It breeds less frequently in seeds ( Wood 1982).
