Hosts: Unknown.
Taxonomy: The holotype of Hypothenemus cosmoderoides Murayama (USNM) is missing (N.Vandenberg, pers.com. 2009), but five specimens from Japan identified by Murayama and agreeing with his description of the species (USNM) have been compared with specimens from Taiwan which had earlier been compared with the holotype of H.taihokuensis (NMW) . Only a single species is represented, and H.cosmoderoides is therefore placed in synonymy with H.taihokuensis .
