Distribution: China (NO, SW), Japan, Korea, Taiwan. [2a]

Hosts: Most records are from Quercus spp. (Fagaceae) , but it sometimes attacks other families of trees. Recorded from Prunus mume (Rosaceae) in Taiwan ( Huang et al. 2003).

Biology: The species of Sphaerotrypes Blandford are monogamous bark beetles. The typical gallery system is described by Browne (1961) and Huang et al. (2003).
