Distribution: China (CE, NO, SE, SW), Japan, Korea, Taiwan. [2a]

Hosts: Chamecyparis , Juniperus , Thuja , Thujopsis (Cupressaceae) , Cryptomeria , C unninghamia ( Taxodiaceae ). Recorded from Chamecyparis in Taiwan ( Murayama 1934a). Not breeding in Taxus (Taxaceae) according to Niijima (1942), although listed by Wood and Bright (1992) as a host.

Biology: Zhao and Cao (1987) and Yuan (2008) discuss the bionomics and control of the species. It is associated with an undetermined species of the ascomycete fungus, Geosmithia , in Taiwan ( Kolařik et al. 2008).
