Xyleborus pinivorus Browne, 1980a: 374 . n. syn.

Distribution: Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam. The species also oocurs in China (SE) (RAB, unpublished record). New to Taiwan. [3]

New record: Nantou, Hui Son , 18.iii.2006 (L. Y. Liu) (2) .

Hosts: The species is unusual amongst the Xyleborini in only being known to attack pine trees, Pinus (Pinaceae) .

Taxonomy: The holotype of X. pinicola (FRI) is not accessible, but we have examined specimens determined by Schedl (MNB, NMW), and compared them with specimens in RAB that were previously compared with the holotype of X. pinivorus (NHML) . Only a single species is represented.
