Identification. The lithophytic habit, creeping stem, and narrow leaf blades is distinctive for the species. The infructescence peduncle in H. vagans is unusual in the genus in its erect, not drooping habit ( Boyce 1994).

Distribution and ecology. Steep banks near river in primary lowland mixed dipterocarp forest on Setap shale formation; 65 m.
