2. Amorimia subg. Uncinae R.F. Almeida , subg. nov. ( Figs. 9 View FIGURE 9 , 11 View FIGURE 11 ).

Type:— Amorimia pubiflora ( Jussieu 1833: 14) Anderson (2006: 183) .

This subgenus differs from Amorimia subgenus Amorimia by its adaxially glabrous sepals; sepal glands green turning yellow to dark green; petals obovate to spatulate with a cuneate base, adaxially glabrous (occasionally distally hairy in A. septentrionalis ), straight claws; anthers usually glabrous (occasionally hairy in A. pubiflora and A. septentrionalis ); styles with apex uncinated to occasionally apiculate; and spherical pollen grains.

Notes:— This subgenus includes seven species mostly restricted to seasonally dry tropical forests of northwestern and eastern South America: A. amazonica , A. camporum , A. concinna , A. kariniana , A. pubiflora , A. septentrionalis Anderson (2006: 185) and A. tumida ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 ).
