Revised description. Shell small, solid, moderately broad fusiform; apical angle ~40–47°. Protoconch not preserved. Teleoconch of at least nine whorls (earliest whorls not preserved). Early teleoconch whorls with broad, smooth subsutural cord and beaded suprasutural cord, separated by concave mid-portion. Sculpture changing on fourth teleoconch whorl; subsutural cord swelling into prominent, rounded subsutural collar with poorly defined tubercles marking whorl periphery, mid-portion concave, narrow, suprasutural row of beads well developed. Entire surface covered in fine spiral threads, overrunning collar and beads. Suture narrowly impressed, weakly undulating. Last whorl 65% of total height, barrel shaped; subsutural collar prominent, rounded, subsutural ramp narrow, concave. Shoulder weakly developed, delimited by row of large poorly defined, axially elongated tubercles that extend axially to form vague ribs; convex below, moderately constricted at base. Siphonal fasciole poorly delimited, twisted. Below shoulder primary cords not clearly defined, covered in irregular, flattened, poorly defined cords extending to fasciole. Aperture moderately wide, pyriform. Outer lip not thickened, smooth within. Anal sinus moderately deep and wide, asymmetrically U-shaped, with apex mid-ramp. Siphonal canal moderately short and narrow, straight to slightly deflected to the left, shallowly notched at tip. Columella straight to weakly convex, smooth. Columellar and parietal callus thickened, forming broad callus rim.
Discussion. Olegia dorotheae ( Hoernes & Auinger, 1891) was partly confused with ‘ Clavatula ’ mariae by Hoernes & Auinger (1891) and Harzhauser (2002), but ‘C. ’ mariae has a conical spire, a weaker subsutural collar and lacks axial ribs on the last whorl. Olegia dorotheae is reminiscent of O. brigittae ( Hoernes & Auinger, 1891) , but differs in its swollen subsutural collar and more concave whorls. ‘ Clavatula ’ geniculata Bellardi, 1877, from the Langhian of Albugnano ( Italy), develops similar sculpture, but differs in its high spire and more strongly constricted base (see Bellardi 1877: 174, pl. 5, fig. 37). The specimen from the middle Miocene of Albania, described by Martelli & Nelli (1910: 550, pl. 11, fig. 5) as ‘ C. ’ geniculata is unrelated with that species and differs from ‘ C. ’ geniculata and O. dorotheae by the conical spire and the absence of any nodes or beads. The single specimen described by Švagrovský (1959, 1960a) from the Badenian of Kuzmice ( Slovakia) as C. dorotheae differs from the Karpatian type in its constricted and more angulated base and longer siphonal canal and lacks the prominent subsutural collar.
Paleoenvironment. Estuarine, littoral mud flats ( Zuschin et al. 2004). Distribution in Central Paratethys. Karpatian (early Miocene): Korneuburg Basin: Kleinebersdorf, Karnabrunn, Obergänserndorf ( Austria) (Harzhauser 2002, 2003); North Alpine-Carpathian Foreland Basin: Niederkreuzstetten ( Austria) (Harzhauser 2002, 2003).
