DISTRIBUTION AND ECOLOGY. — Combretum pellegrinianum is found in between the large closed forest areas of Gabon in the west and Congo Kinshasa in the east, in an area with an often more open vegetation with savanna and gallery forest ( Fig. 4A View FIG ). It differs in ecology from the related C. mussaendiflorum that is only found in the (originally) closed forest in the east of Congo Kishasa.
