Specimens examined:

Holotype: 3. Somalia Mogadiscio, 7°Km- 22/4 - 5/5 /1984, R. Mourglia legit (CRG). Paratypes: Somalia Mogadiscio, 7°Km- 22/4 - 5/5 /1984, R. Mourglia legit (7 ex., CRG, 2 ex., JSBC); Kenya S.E., Tana riv. Prov., 14km N of Garsen, 9.IV.2004, M. Snizek lgt. (3 ex., CRG); Kenya S.E., Malindi 13.IV., W. of Kakoneni 2004, M. Snizek lgt. (1 ex., CRG).

Length: 9mm – 11.1mm (14 specimens).

Head: Black, sometimes red in front and posteriorly; punctate to wrinkled.

Antennae: Ligth brown to reddish; not reaching base of pronotum when laid alongside; A5–A10 serrate. Pronotum: Black, apex in middle narrowly red to black-red, disc with reddish spots; broadest in middle, but not sinuate, conspicuously constricted anteriorly and towards base; deeply, densely and coarsely punctate, length:width ratio 1.25:1.

Scutellum: Brown, red-brown or black-brown.

Elytra: Brown to black, shoulder brown to red-brown; each elytron with a yellow-brown lateral spot in the basal third and a broad yellow-brown fascia in the middle spanning from lateral to sutural margins; fasciae with a long extension towards base of elytra and two short extensions (sometimes indistinct) directed apically, the red-brown colour of the apex extends towards base and suture; diameter of punctures on disc smaller than interstices, more elongated behind the yellow-brown fasciae; length:width ratio 2.54:1. Legs: Black-brown to red-brown or brown.

Lower surface: Dark brown to brown.

Vestiture: With yellowish hairs.

This species, at first view, is very similar to S. fulvoplagiata , but differs from this species by the coarsely punctate and sinuate pronotum, the shape of the elytral fascia and the coloration of the elytral apex.
