Specimens examined:

Holotype: Ƥ. Coll. Mus. Tervuren, Côte d’ivoire: Bingerville, X. 1962, J. Decelle ( MRAC).

Length: 9.3mm (1 specimen).

Head: Brown; finely and diffusely punctate.

Antennae: Dark brown; not reaching base of pronotum when laid alongside; A5–A10 serrate. Pronotum: Brown; anterior half subparallel, constricted towards base, with six elevations on disc and two elevations at base (in middle); finely and diffusely punctate; length:width ratio 1.6:1. Scutellum: Brown.

Elytra: Brown; each elytron with a white lateral spot in the basal third and a white transverse fascia beyond middle spanning from lateral to sutural margins; diameter of puntures larger or smaller than interstices, punctures within fasciae small, punctures behind fasciae elongate, apex very finely and diffusely punctate; length:width ratio 2.2:1.

Legs: Yellowish-brown to brown.

Lower surface: Light yellowish-brown, abdomen darkened posteriorly. Vestiture: With yellowish hairs.

Distribution: Ivory Coast.

Etymology: Named after fellow cleridologist Jonathan R. Mawdsley (Washington, DC, USA).
