Armadilloniscus View in CoL sp.

Material Examined: CNCR20404; number of specimens: 1; CV station; collection date: 01/08/98.

Distribution: Eight species of Armadilloniscus have been reported from Yugoslavia, Italy, Switzerland, Belize, the British West Indies ( Schotte & Heard, 1991), and from Canada to Baja California, Mexico ( EspinosaPérez & Hendrickx, 2001).

Range extension: The presence of Armadilloniscus sp. at CV inlet, Veracruz State, constitutes a new record for the Gulf of Mexico.

Remarks: Temperate species dominate in this genus, but it has been recorded occasionally in subtropical regions ( EspinosaPérez & Hendrickx, 2001), both in a variety of shallowwater marine habitats ( Schotte & Heard, 1991) and as a semiterrestrial or terrestrial species ( Kensley & Schotte, 1989). This genus not identifiable to species because it appear to be new species.

The salinity and temperature measured ranged from 24 to 26 %o and from 27 to 28 °C, respectively.
