Type species: Cyrnellus minimus Banks , original designation.
Diagnosis: The species in this genus are characterized by having maxillary palps with long 2nd segment, 3rd segment slightly longer than 2nd segment; 3rd segment originating subapically on lateral face on the 2nd segment; forewings each with a closed discoidal cell; an open median cell; and apical forks 2, 3, 4, and 5; hind wings each with an open discoidal cell and apical forks 2 and 5. Gonopods long, horizontal, each with subapical and mesad-directed, strongly sclerotized, conical, pointed process, rarely double-toothed. The genus is exclusively Neotropical, although 1 species extends its range into the Nearctic Region.
