The holotype specimen, labelled “Campy: impexa TYPE. F. A. A. Skuse” and “Eliz: Bay.”, is almost complete, but strongly shrivelled. Male genitalic characters, which are clearly visible, indicate Campylomyza impexaimpexa is identical to the species European workers know as Peromyia palustris (KIEFFER,, 1895). So Peromyia impexaimpexa (SKUSE) becomes the valid name of this common, widespread species. I have seen specimens from Queensland (unpubl.) and Tasmania (see below).
