Members of this group share the following character states: mentum with sides 6 rounded; tooth narrow and not reaching apices of lobes, paramedian foveal pits indistinct or small; lateral depressions with or without meshed microsculpture; disc of pronotum with indistinct meshed microsculpture; posterior angles of pronotum rounded to obtusely rounded, not denticulate; elytra without orange spot at apical fourth around suture; elytral microsculpture striate, lines indistinct; epipleuron with subapical plica; metasternum and metepisternum without (most species) or with shallow punctures; metasternum with relatively deep constriction medially at level of posterior edges of mesocoxae; tarsomeres 5 without setae underneath; endophallus with sclerotized ring; body size small to medium (SBL ¼ 5.5–9.8 mm).
