Diagnosis (males). Epandrial right posterior margin with medial, sclerotized projection; epandrial medial process bifurcated into a bifurcated sclerotized left branch and a round right branch pointed at apex.
Material examined. Holotype ♂, COLOMBIA: Chocó : PNN Utria Boroboro. 6.03ºN, 77.32ºW, 4– 19.vii.2000, Malaise trap, 10 m, J. Pérez col. ( IAVH) GoogleMaps . Paratype: 1 ♂, COLOMBIA: Chocó : PNN Utria Cocalito. 6.02ºN, 77.35ºW, 16.viii–7.ix.2000, Malaise trap, 20 m, J. Pérez col. ( LACM) GoogleMaps .
Description. Male. Body length, 2.8 mm. Head. Frons brown, pubescent, without median furrow. Flagellomere 1 light brown, pubescent, oval. Arista pre-apical, pubescent. Palpus yellowish-brown; one lower genal and 1–2 upper genal setae. Thorax. Scutum brown, pleural sclerites light brown, anepisternum dorsally brown; anepisternum setulose dorsally, with one long seta; scutellum dark brown, with medial and posterior areas reddish-brown. Legs light brown. Forefemur with ventral row of four strong setae near apex. Foretibia with one dorsal seta at basal third and an anterodorsal row of strong setae. Foremetatarsus ratio, 4.5. Midtibia with one anterodorsal and one posterodorsal setae at its basal third ( Fig. 188 View FIGURES 160–195 ). Hind femur swollen (height/length ratio, 0.41). Hind tibia with one anterodorsal and four posterodorsal setae ( Fig. 226 View FIGURES 196–233 ). Wing. Costa 0.5 of the wing length, other wing features as for the genus. Halter white. Abdomen. Tergites dark brown, with lighter posterior band. Hypopygium yellowish-brown ( Figs. 128–131 View FIGURES 128–131 ). Epandrial medial process bifurcated into a sclerotized bifurcated left branch and a round right branch pointed at apex. Epandrial right posterior margin with medial, sclerotized pointed projection, with subepandrial setulose process. Hypandrium left lobe large, bifurcated into two sharp edges; right lobe smaller. Hypoproct with two setae. Phallus ( Figs. 312–313 View FIGURES 312–315 ). Basiphallus with dorsal process. Core plate triangular in dorsal view. Epiphallus connected to right arm at left lateral of the phallus, with sclerotized scales. Ventral plate with secondary curved scaled process and a ventral, sclerotized tooth.
Female. Unknown.
Geographic distribution. Known only from the type-locality, a site in western Colombia.
Etymology. This specific epithet refers to the type-locality Chocó.
