This genus comprises five apterous, grass-living species, four described from Europe, with Ap. iraniensis described from Iran ( Alavi 2020). The genus can be distinguished from other members of the Anaphothrips genus-group by the following character states: apterous; head longer than wide; ocelli absent; antennal segments III–IV with simple sense cone. The species of this genus feed and breed on the leaves and leaf-sheaths of various species of Poaceae ( Masumoto and Okajima 2017) .
