Described from Egypt, this species is known from the Canary Islands, Israel and Iran ( Minaei 2012) and is here newly recorded from Saudi Arabia. It is associated primarily with Amaranthaceae View in CoL plants ( Bhatti et al. 2003), particularly with Suaeda sp. in desert climates. It is unique among Eremiothrips species in having 8-segmented antennae ( Figure 4 View Figures 1–6 ), and it also lacks pronotal posteroangular setae ( Figure 33 View Figures 32–37 ), and male sternal pore plates ( Figure 29 View Figures 22–31 ). The paired processes on tergite IX of males are toothed laterally ( Figure 24 View Figures 22–31 ).

Saudi Arabia, Al Baha, Aqiq, Abu faisal farm, 9 females and 4 males from Suaeda aegyptiaca , 23 September 2020 (I. Rasool), Qilwah, Qilwah Ramziyah Rd . 1 male from Suaeda sp. , 25 September 2020 (I. Rasool) ( KSMA) .
