Description. Male ( Figs 8–10 View Figures 1–10 ). Flagellum, head and thorax covered with speckled reddish brown and whitish scales. Abdomen dorsally yellow with black transversal stripes, apically fawn. Forewing. Forewing length: 21–22 mm. Elongated, somewhat oval with slightly wavy outer margin and rather acute apex. Background color speckled reddish brown and whitish. Pattern consists of somewhat triangular pale yellow discal spot, dark brown unbroken doubled crenulated transversal ante- and postmedial lines, and fragmented wavy external line. Basal, medial and external fields dark, space between external field and postmedial line lighter. Fringe speckled reddish brown and brown. Hindwing. Somewhat oval with angle on Rs. Dark brown with fawn veins and anal field. Fringe speckled reddish brown and brown. Genitalia ( Figs 16–17 View Figures 11–19 ). Tegumen helmet-like with two pairs of outgrowths: tiny nipple-like on the top and somewhat triangular on the front. Socii mitten-like, the dorsal ridge is more sclerotized, covered with setae. Valvae short, finger-shaped, basally widened and fused with juxta. Juxta an oval plate surrounding aedeagus, it has a pair of very short extensions along aedeagus. Aedeagus claw-like with tiny vesica everting laterally. Vinculum medially split into a pair of elongated somewhat triangular projections. The eighth sternite is trapezoid with the dentated caudal margin and elongated apodemes. Female remains unknown.

Diagnosis. Leptometa knudlarseni overall lighter colored, has contrasting divided medial field and vague discal mark on forewings ( Fig. 1 View Figures 1–10 ), longer top pair and smaller frontal pair of outgrowths on tegumen ( Fig. 11 View Figures 11–19 ), while L. danieli sp. n. overall darker colored, has undivided medial field of background color and pale yellow discal spot on forewings ( Figs 6–7 View Figures 1–10 ), shorter top pair and larger frontal pair of outgrowths on tegumen ( Figs 16–17 View Figures 11–19 ).

Leptometa sophiae overall lighter colored, has many-sided medial field and vague discal mark on forewings ( Fig. 2 View Figures 1–10 ), longer top pair and smaller frontal pair of outgrowths on tegumen, and longer juxta extensions ( Fig. 12 View Figures 11–19 ), while L. danieli sp. n. overall darker colored, has somewhat trapezoid medial field and pale yellow discal spot on forewings ( Figs 6–7 View Figures 1–10 ), shorter top pair and larger frontal pair of outgrowths on tegumen, and short juxta extensions ( Figs 16–17 View Figures 11–19 ).

Leptometa adalensis overall lighter colored, has divided medial field and vague discal mark on forewings ( Fig. 3 View Figures 1–10 ), longer top pair of outgrowths on tegumen ( Fig. 13 View Figures 11–19 ), while L. danieli sp. n. overall darker colored, has undivided medial field and pale yellow discal mark on forewings ( Figs 6–7 View Figures 1–10 ), shorter top pair of outgrowths on tegumen ( Figs 16–17 View Figures 11–19 ).

Leptometa matuta overall lighter colored, has somewhat triangle forewings with black discal dot ( Fig. 4 View Figures 1–10 ), longer top pair and smaller frontal pair of outgrowths on tegumen ( Fig. 14 View Figures 11–19 ), while L. danieli sp. n. overall darker colored, has somewhat semilanceolate forewings with pale yellow discal spot ( Figs 6–7 View Figures 1–10 ), shorter top pair and larger frontal pair of outgrowths on tegumen ( Figs 16–17 View Figures 11–19 ).

Leptometa sapelensis overall lighter colored, has somewhat triangular forewings with smooth medial lines and black discal dot ( Fig. 5 View Figures 1–10 ), lacks top pair and has smaller frontal pair of outgrowths on tegumen ( Fig. 15 View Figures 11–19 ), while L. danieli sp. n. overall darker colored, has somewhat semilanceolate forewings with crenulated medial lines and pale yellow discal spot ( Figs 6–7 View Figures 1–10 ), has top pair and larger frontal pair of outgrowths on tegumen ( Figs 16–17 View Figures 11–19 ).

Leptometa gabrielae sp. n. overall lighter colored, has lighter tegulae, somewhat triangle forewings with dark basal and medial fields limited by postmedial line, light hindwing, lacks stripes on abdomen ( Figs 6–7 View Figures 1–10 ), smaller top pair but larger frontal pair of outgrowths on tegumen ( Figs 16–17 View Figures 11–19 ), while L. danieli sp. n. overall darker colored, has evenly colored thorax, somewhat semilanceolate forewings with gradually lightening pattern towards external margin, dark hindwing, stripes on abdomen ( Figs 8–10 View Figures 1–10 ), larger top pair but smaller frontal pair of outgrowths on tegumen ( Figs 18–19 View Figures 11–19 ).

Distribution ( Fig. 21 View Figures 20–21 ). Northwest Congolian lowland forests in Gabon and Central Congolian lowland forests in DRC.

Biology. Adults were collected in October–February and April from altitudes up to 800 m. Preimaginal stages unknown.

Etymology. The species is named in honor of Daniel Ebert (Munich, Germany).
