Blennidus huascarani: Giachino & Allegro, 2011: 24 View in CoL Type locality. Peru, Ancash, Cordillera Blanca, Quebrada Putaca, Punta Olimpica Pass.

Examined material. HT ♂ (CAl), 22 PTT ♂ and 13 PTT ♀ (CAl, CCa, CGi, CSc, MNHNP, MRSN, MSNM, UASM).

Note. Species with peculiar morphology, distinguished by its depressed habitus, slender legs and very distinctive morphology of aedeagus; it seems rather isolated from all other Blennidus species from Peru.

Distribution. Only recorded from two sites of Cordillera Blanca: Punta Olímpica Pass and Laguna Wachucocha (=Huachucocha), near San Luis ( Allegro 2010).

Habitat. In the type locality (4,600 m a.s.l.) this species is commonly found in the coarse detritic sediments of a glacial area ( Allegro 2010).
