In Canada, this widespread, common eucnemid species was taken in Ontario and Québec. In the United States, D. badius was previously taken from Alabama, Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, and Wisconsin ( Muona 2000; Otto 2022b; Otto and Karns 2017; Wickham 1911). New state records are confirmed for Kentucky and Oklahoma. One specimen was taken from a Lindgren funnel trap placed in a forest system following a prescribed burn in Kentucky.
