Adiantopsis chlorophylla (Sw.) Fée, Mém. Foug. View in CoL 5: 145 [Gen. Filic.]. 1852.
= Cheilanthes chlorophylla Sw., Kongl. Vetensk. Acad. Handl. 1817 View in CoL (1): 76. 1817.
Range: — Colombia to Bolivia ( CH, CO, LP, SC, TA), southern Brazil, and Paraguay.
Ecology: —Very common; terrestrial in arid scrub and forests; 250–2150(–3000) m.
Notes: —Blades 2-to 3-pinnate-pinnatifid. This cannot be confused with the other species of Adiantopsis , and most closely resembles some species of Cheilanthes or Myriopteris . More than one species may be involved, with different taxa in the Andes, the eastern lowlands, and the Chiquitanía. Hybrids are known between A. chlorophylla and A. radiata (= A. × australopedata Hickey, Baker & Ponce; Hickey et al. 2003) in Argentina, southern Brazil, and Paraguay and are to be expected in Bolivia; a recent collection has been seen from Peru ( Valenzuela et al. 5162, UC).
