Range: —Mountains from northern Peru to Bolivia ( CH, CO, LP, PO, SC, TA); central Argentina and central Brazil.
Ecology: —Fairly common; terrestrial in arid intermontane valleys, mostly in open areas among rocks or in steep rocky walls; (500–) 900–4200 m.
Notes: —Blades mostly 2-pinnate; ultimate segments lacking farina abaxially (thus greenish to brown when sporebearing), elliptic; rhizome scales not crispate. Apparently triploid and apomictic ( Hernández et al. 2015), but sexual populations producing unreduced spores may occur ( Sigel et al. 2011).
