Range: —Greater Antilles; southern Texas to Bolivia ( CH, CO, LP, TA), northwestern Argentina, and recently recorded to southeastern Brazil ( Biral & Prado 2012).

Ecology: —Fairly common; terrestrial in semiarid forests, in scrub, brushy grasslands, among rocks and on stone walls, often scrambling in shrubby vegetation; 1200–2900 m.

Notes: —Rhizomes creeping; rachises flexuous and pilose; scales on petiole bases and rachises bicolorous, with narrow, dark, sclerotic centers; ultimate segments ovate.
