Range: —Antilles; mountains from Mexico to Venezuela, Bolivia (SC), and northwestern Argentina.
Ecology: —Rare (known from a single collection); terrestrial and saxicolous on cliffs and rocky places; 900 m.
Notes: —Leaves stiffly erect, blades 2-pinnate; rachises with long, loosely arranged orange hairs intermixed with inconspicuous scattered scales. Differs from M. moritziana in having less divided rachis scales, longer, stiffer leaves, and ultimate segments more oblong.
