Diagnosis. Distinguished by the basally narrowed and distally asymmetrically widened second antennal segment; the relatively long antennal segments III and IV, together 2.8 times as long as segment I; the entirely brown scutellum; the relatively dark corium, in various shades of brown; and the brown cuneus with a shiny, whitish, and slightly convex spot.

Description. Male. Body elongate-oval, length 2.86–3.10 mm ( Figs 1A, B View FIGURE 1 ). Coloration. Shades of brown ( Figs 1A, B View FIGURE 1 ). Head: mostly brown; vertex near ocelli, area above fovea antennalis and buccula tinged reddish, area along caudal margins of compound eyes pale ( Figs 1D, E View FIGURE 1 ); antennae mostly brown; segments I–III entirely brown, fourth segment pale except brown base ( Fig 1C View FIGURE 1 ); labium brown. Thorax: pronotum chestnut brown, pronotal collar brown; scutellum and mesoscutum chestnut brown; thoracic pleura chestnut brown; ostiolar peritreme brown, evaporative area chestnut brown; hemelytra generally brown, semitransparent, base of cuneus with pale spot; legs in various shades of brown except pale bases of the metafemora ( Figs 1A, B View FIGURE 1 ). Abdomen: brown. Surface and Vestiture. Body mostly glossy, weakly punctate, covered with fine setae ( Figs 1A, B View FIGURE 1 , 2 View FIGURE 2 ); head impunctate, frons with row of setae along edge the eyes and scattered setae over rest of surface, posterior margin with long, adpressed setae ( Figs 1D, E View FIGURE 1 , 3A View FIGURE 3 ); antennae with short, dense setae ( Fig. 1C View FIGURE 1 ); pronotal collar with row of punctures; pronotum shiny, shallowly punctate, covered sparsely with fine setae; mesoscutum shiny, impunctate, sparsely covered with fine, long setae ( Figs 1A View FIGURE 1 , 2 View FIGURE 2 ); scutellum impunctate, covered with cuticular reticulation and sparse, fine, long setae ( Fig. 3B View FIGURE 3 ); thoracic pleura impunctate, propleura with few short setae on bottom parts, mesopleura with few seta of different lengths, metapleura glabrous ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ); hemelytra densely punctate, covered with brown setae; cuneus with slightly convex, glabrous, pale spot at inner corner; legs with short, pale-brown setae; femoral trichobothria with varying degrees of development, midfemora with four trichobothria: three originating from well-developed trichome and the fourth with an incomplete one ( Figs 3D, E View FIGURE 3 ); hindfemora with five trichobothria: four with well-developed trichome and fifth with a small one ( Fig. 3F View FIGURE 3 ); tibia with short setae and spines; abdomen covered with long, pale-brown setae ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ). Structure. Head: flattened, hypognathous, elongate laterally; vertex on same level as compound eye, strongly protruding dorsally relative to pronotal collar, not reaching highest point of pronotum ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ); compound eyes large, almost confluent along median line anterior to vertex; ocelli small, placed near compound eye; fovea antennalis directly under compound eyes; frons narrowed in the lower part, in the middle with a distinct longitudinal furrow extending from center to vertex; mandibular plate, maxillary plate and buccula enlarged ( Figs 1D, E View FIGURE 1 , 3A View FIGURE 3 ); first antennal segment massive, cylindrical; second segment basally as thick as segment I, asymmetrically widened distally; segment III and IV thin and relatively long, together 2.8 times as long as segment I ( Fig. 1C View FIGURE 1 ); apex labium surpassing metacoxae. Thorax: pronotum trapeziform; pronotal collar very thin; calli reduced, not distinguishable from pronotal disc, disc strongly convex, lateral margin carinate, posterior margin straight; mesoscutum long, elevated, decreasing posteriorly; scutellum tumid, elevated subapically ( Figs 1A View FIGURE 1 , 2 View FIGURE 2 ); evaporatory area triangular; ostiolar peritreme medium sized, inflated ( Fig. 3C View FIGURE 3 ); hemelytron distinctly protruding beyond the abdomen, lateral margin straight; clavus broad; cuneus broad, inner margin straight; membrane with single, elongate cell; legs long, hindfemur thickened, reaching the apex of abdomen; tibia cylindrical ( Figs 1A, B View FIGURE 1 ); tarsus two-segmented; each claw with a subapical tooth ( Fig.3G View FIGURE 3 ). Abdomen: elongate, not reaching apex of cuneus. Genitalia: genital capsule trapeziform ( Figs 4A, B View FIGURE 4 ); parameres asymmetrical in size and shape; left paramere large, scythe-shaped, hypophysis long, vertically curved and tapered to apex, sensory lobe broad, with several long setae ( Fig. 4D View FIGURE 4 ); right paramere small, short, dagger-shaped ( Fig. 4C View FIGURE 4 ); endosoma membranous ( Fig. 4E View FIGURE 4 ).

Female. Unknown. Measurements. Given in Table 1. Etymology. Named after the type locality, Palawan Island. Material examined. Biology. According to Petersen (1996), most insects in Pinigisan were collected at the plateau or in the undisturbed primary forest. The whole area was described as being completely isolated from lowland biotopes by large tracks of the primary rain forest. A Malaise trap was placed about 20 meters inside the rain forest and another one in grassy vegetation about 10 meters outside the forest. A Robinson trap (mercury vapour light) operated in the open.
