Holotype ♀ MOROCCO: Essaouira (Mogador) , MNHNP Coll. Simon 6366 ; examined.

Comments

Simon (1909) described Araneus dromedarius cuculliger Simon, 1909 from Morocco. In the World Spider Catalog (2016) it is mentioned as Gibbaranea bituberculata cuculliger . The holotype was examined in order to test its validity and there appears to be no difference between the epigynes of the nominal species and the subspecies. It is just a colour variation and G. bituberculata cuculliger is declared here a junior synonym of the nominal species.
