Thirty-one Phaenoglyphis species were considered valid according to the Charipinae catalogue ( Ferrer-Suay et al. 2012a) ( Table 5). However, examination of the type material revealed that only 24 species are currently valid ( Ferrer-Suay et al. 2018b) and 11 Phaenoglyphis species were subsequently described ( Table 7 View TABLE 7 ). The monospecific genera ( Dilapothor , Lobopterocharips , Lytoxysta , and † Protocharips ) have not changed in species numbers since the production of the first Charipinae catalogue ( Ferrer-Suay et al. 2012a).
Most of the Alloxysta and Phaenoglyphis type material has been located and studied, the outstanding types that have not been seen are presumed to be lost (Ferrer-Suay et al. in prep). 65 Alloxysta and 24 Phaenoglyphis species described by earlier authors are still considered as valid species. In total 55 new Charipinae species have been described in modern day revisions: 40 Alloxysta , 3 Apocharips , 1 Dilyta , and 11 Phaenoglyphis . All the valid species were completely described and illustrated by Ferrer-Suay et al.
