Dolichocephala qinlingensis sp. nov.

Diagnosis. Thorax black. Legs mostly brownish yellow; for coxa brownish yellow, mid and hind coxae blackish. Wing with many small hyaline spots; 5 hyaline spots in cell r1 and 3 hyaline spots in cell r2+3. Clasping cercus thick, with short, somewhat acute dorsal apex. Hypandrium with small tight bundle of apical bristles.

Description. Male. Body length 2.0– 2.1 mm, wing length 2.3–2.4 mm.

Head black with pale gray pollinosity. Eyes black, distinctly separated; face narrower than frons, narrowed downwards. Hairs and bristles on head black; occiput with row of 5 strong postocular bristles (uppermost being vt), lower half of occiput with minute pale hairs; ocellar tubercle weak with 2 long oc and 2 very short posterior hairs. Antenna black; pedicel with circle of black apical hairs; first flagellomere short, somewhat quadrate, as long as wide; arista 5 times as long as first flagellomere, black, indistinctly pubescent. Proboscis blackish with black hairs; palpus black with black hairs and 2 apical bristles.

Thorax black with pale gray pollinosity. Hairs and bristles on thorax black; acr absent, 5 strong dc, 1 long h, 1 long ph, 1 short hair-like npl, 1 long sa, 1 psa slightly shorter than sa; scutellum with pair of long sc. Laterotergite with 2 short weak blackish bristles. Legs mainly brownish yellow, except mid and hind coxae blackish; all trochanters brown; extreme tips of all tibiae brown; tarsomeres 3–5 brown to dark brown onward. Hairs and bristles on legs including those on coxae blackish to black. Fore femur with erect preapical anterior comb of short bristles. Fore tibia apically with anterodorsal serration i.e. about 20 rows of short black hairs arranged in comb. Hind tibia with short black bristles arranged in combs anterodorsally on apical fourth. Wing ( Fig. 5 ) dark gray with many small hyaline spots; 5 hyaline spots in cell r1, 3 hyaline spots in cell r2+3; veins dark gray. Squama dark brown with blackish hairs. Halter dark yellow with brown base.

Abdomen black with pale gray pollinosity. Hairs and bristles on abdomen black.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 6 ). Epandrial lamella rather large and somewhat quadrate, with 3 long bristles along dorsal margin. Surstylus thin and hook-like. Cercal plate very small with 2 long bristles; clasping cercus wide, with short, obtuse dorsal apex. Hypandrium nearly quadrate, longer than wide, with small tight bundle of apical bristles. Basiphallus rather long and thick, weakly curved; distiphallus nearly as long as basiphallus, apically strongly curved and furcated.

Female. Body length 2.0– 2.4 mm, wing length 2.0– 2.25 mm.

Type material. HOLOTYPE ♂, labeled: CHINA: Shaanxi, Ningshan, Huoditang (N33°26′ 2.00″ E108°26′ 53.26″), 1400 m, 2013. VII.13, Ding Yang ( CAU). Paratypes: CHINA: Shaanxi: 1 ♀, same data as holotype ( CAU); 1 ♂, 1 ♀, Zhashui (N33°41′ 14.99″ E109°06′ 32.70″), Niubeiliang, 1000 m, 2013. VII.15, Yuyu Wang ( CAU).

Distribution. China (Shaanxi).

Remarks. The new species is similar to D. sinica Horvat , but may be separated from the latter by the wing with 5 hyaline spots in cell r1 and 3 hyaline spots in cell r2+3, clasping cercus without inner process basally and hypandrium with a narrow tight bundle of bristles apically. In D. sinica Horvat , the wing has 4 hyaline spots in cell r1 and 4 hyaline spots in cell r2+3, the clasping cercus has a small inner process basally, and the hypandrium has one wide row of loose bristles apically ( Horvat 1994).

Etymology. The specific name refers to the type locality Qinling Mountains.
