Type locality and specimens. Gulf of Napoli , Naples. Holotype, male, MVRCr slides 1360–1361; paratypes MVRC.

Material examined. No material available for examination. Diagnosis based on description by Krapp- Schickel (1975) and Krapp-Schickel & Menioui (2005).

Diagnosis. Truncate anterior head margin. Antenna 1 peduncle slightly inflated. Coxa 1–4 with facial setae. Gnathopod 1 dactylus short. Gnathopod 2 basis with setose posterior margin; carpus distally tapered; propodus mediofacial setal row displaced to midline. Pereopods 5–7 bases with facial setae. Uropod 3 peduncle short. Epimeron 1 with anteroventral tuft of setae. Epimeron 3 posteroventral corner sinuous with simple cusp. Telson apex rounded.

Female (sexually dimorphic characters). Gnathopod 2 propodus convex, not elongate, mediofacial setal row longer, further displaced to midline.

Habitat. Fine sand and among Zostera seaweeds; 2–40 m.

Host. Unknown.

Distribution. Mediterranean Sea: Naples ( Krapp-Schickel 1975). Tyrrhenian Sea: Gulf of Follonica (Krapp- Schickel 1989). Atlantic Ocean: Bretagne ( Krapp-Schickel 1975), lagune de Khnifiss á Tarfaya (Menioui & Ruffo 1989), Morocco ( Krapp-Schickel and Menioui 2005).
