Type locality and specimens. New Zealand, 40º28’S 177º43’E. Holotype, female, 12.7 mm (reported as 0.5 in). Material examined. No material available for examination. Diagnosis based on description by Stebbing GoogleMaps

(1888).

Diagnosis (female). Truncate anterior head margin; quadrate anterodistal margin with a cusp. Gnathopod 1 coxa with serrate anterior margin; dactylus short. Gnathopod 2 basis with setose posterior margin; carpus distally truncate; propodus palm with four major tubercles. Coxae 3–4 with serrate distal margins. Pereopods 5–7 bases narrowly expanded.

Note. The tridentate telson was used as a diagnostic character of this species. It is now known to be a very common character state in leucothoids.

Male (sexually dimorphic characters). Unknown.

Habitat. Blue mud; 2011 m (reported as 1100 fthm).

Host. Unknown.

Distribution. Pacific Ocean: New Zealand ( Stebbing 1888; Stebbing 1906; Chilton (1905) 1906), Gilbert Islands ( Schellenberg 1938a).
