( Figure 12 View FIGURES 9–14 )
Oxychalepus paranormalis Ramos 1998: 313 View in CoL [Holotype: Brazil, Mato Grosso, Rosário Oeste, MG. Dirings , Nov. 1978 / HOLOTYPE [red label]/ Oxychalepus paranormalis View in CoL sp. n. holotipo ♀ TC Ramos det 1996 (MZSP)].
Description. Pronotum orangish with medial and two lateral black stripes; elytra with apical ¼ black and black basal anchor-shaped marking; venter black with yellow in front; pro-meso-, metasterna, and abdominal sterna 1–3 yellowish medially, black laterally; abdominal sterna 4–8 black with yellow lateral margins; legs black, coxae yellow. Head: vertex with medial sulcus plus sulcus on inner margin of each eye; frontal carina straight; clypeus rugose, with small elevations. Antenna: slightly compressed laterally; antennomere 1 subglobose, twice length of 2; 2 transverse; 3–4 cylindrical, subequal in length; 5–10 transverse; 11 pointed at apex. Pronotum: lateral margin slightly convergent on basal ½, strongly constricted on apical ¼; basal impression distinct; punctures shallow, indistinct; surface totally covered with microsculpture; with faint medial longitudinal sulcus; pronotal length 1.4 mm (n=1); pronotal width 2.3 mm. Scutellum: trapezoidal, posterior margin rounded. Elytron: with 10 rows of punctures, scutellar row absent; carinae 1 and 2 united apically; lateral margin with small teeth basally, larger ones apically; apical margin with large tooth in exterior apical angle and smaller tooth at end of puncture row 6; elytral length 7.5 mm; elytral width 2.8 mm. Leg: protibia of male with large tooth; metatibia with inner margin enlarged apically. Total length: 9.1–10.4 mm.
Remarks. This species can be distinguished by the elytra without a scutellar row; by the vertex of the head being trisulcate; by antennomere 1 being subglobose while 2 is transverse; and by the lateral margin of the pronotum being slightly convergent on basal ½ then strongly constricted on apical ¼.
Host plant. Unknown.
Distribution. Brazil.
Specimens examined. Brazil. Mato Grosso: Rosário Oeste ( MZSP). Total 1 .
