Type material. Catocala minerva : holotype ♁ [ USNM, examined]. Th e name minerva has been treated for many years as a subspecies of C. briseis Edwards, 1864 , but C. minerva is a lighter color form of C. briseis that occurs regularly throughout much of the western geographic range of the species. Type Locality: Deer Creek, Provo Canyon, Utah, [ USA].
